... Wind Advisory remains in effect from 2 PM PDT this afternoon until
3 am PDT Friday morning...

A Wind Advisory remains in effect from 2 PM PDT this afternoon until
3 am PDT Friday morning for the western Mojave Desert.

* Winds: southwest to west winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts between
45 and 55 mph.

* Timing: winds will increase by late this morning with the
strongest winds expected mid afternoon through this evening
before decreasing after midnight.

* Locations: Barstow... Daggett... and Fort Irwin.

* Impacts: strong Crosswinds may make driving difficult at
times... especially on highways 15 and 40... while blowing
sand and dust may rapidly lower visibilities to less than a
mile.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that Crosswinds are expected to be strong
enough to make driving difficult... especially for high profile
vehicles. In addition... strong winds over desert areas could result
in briefly lowered visibilities to well under a mile at times in
blowing dust or blowing sand. Use extra caution.

The high temperature was 102 degrees at the Barstow-Daggett CA
Airport yesterday... may 16th... which tied the record high maximum
for the date set in 2009.
