High Wind Warning As of 1:19 PM PDT on May 17, 2012

... High Wind Warning in effect until 6 am PDT Friday...

The National Weather Service in San Diego has issued a High Wind
Warning for northern portions of the Coachella Valley... which is
in effect until 6 am PDT Friday. The Wind Advisory is no longer in
effect.

* Winds... westerly 30 to 40 mph with local gusts to 60 mph.

* Timing... late this afternoon and tonight.

* Location... strongest winds over northern portions of the valley
including the 111 into Palm Springs... and the I-10 corridor through
the Banning pass.

* Visibility... locally below 1/4 mile in heavy blowing dust and sand.

* Impacts... motorists may encounter difficult and hazardous
driving conditions due to strong cross winds... reduced visibility...
and debris on roadways.

* Outlook... winds will gradually diminish Friday morning.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring. Wind gusts of at least 58 mph are expected.
