Winter Storm Warning As of 11:55 PM PST on March 12, 2010

... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 am PST Saturday
above 6000 feet...

A Winter Storm Warning above 6000 feet remains in effect until
6 am PST Saturday for the southern Sierra Nevada from Yosemite
to Kings Canyon.

* A Pacific storm was moving through central California this
evening. Rain and mountain snow will continue overnight.

* Snow accumulations: a storm total of up to 13 inches of new
snow will be possible above 7000 feet at Yosemite National
Park... with up to 10 inches possible above 6000 feet.

* Elevation: snow levels will be between 5000 and 5500 feet
tonight during the heaviest snowfall... falling to around 4000
feet early Saturday morning as the snowfall diminishes.

* Timing: the heaviest snow will fall tonight... tapering off
Saturday morning. A few residual snow showers will be
possible Saturday afternoon.

* Locations include: higher elevations of Yosemite National
Park including Badger Pass... Huntington Lake... lake
Wishon..and Grant Grove.

* Winds: southwest winds up to 30 mph may cause areas of blowing
and drifting snow. Gusts up to 60 mph are possible near the
crest.

* Impacts: roads above 6000 feet will become hazardous at
times. Be prepared for winter driving conditions.

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow are
expected or occurring. Strong winds are also possible. This will
make travel very hazardous or impossible.
