Heat Advisory As of 3:03 PM CDT on July 29, 2010

... Heat advisory in effect from noon to 8 PM CDT Friday...

The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a heat
advisory... which is in effect from noon to 8 PM CDT Friday.

Temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 90s Friday. These
warm temperatures will combine with high humidity levels to create
heat index values between 105 and 110 degrees. The greatest threat
for heat related illnesses will be during the mid to late
afternoon hours. The warm and moist airmass will remain across the
region into the weekend... with temperatures topping out in the
upper 90s Saturday and Sunday.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible.
Drink plenty of fluids... stay in an air-conditioned room... stay
out of the sun... and check up on relatives and neighbors.
