Winter Weather Advisory As of 5:00 am EST on January 7, 2009
... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 1 PM EST this afternoon...
A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 1 PM EST this afternoon.
This Winter Weather Advisory is for eastern Essex... Norfolk... southeast Middlesex... and Suffolk counties in Massachusetts... as well as northwest Providence County in Rhode Island.
Freezing rain will continue for several hours this morning... before transitioning to plain rain toward noon.
Ice accretions of less than one quarter inch are expected. This combined with up to 2 inches of snow and sleet accumulation will result in travel difficulties later this morning. Untreated surfaces will be slippery for the Wednesday morning commute... so please plan accordingly.
A Winter Weather Advisory is issued when snow and/or ice is forecast to develop in the affected areas... but accumulations are expected to be light. Any snow or ice would make driving and walking difficult... but not impossible... on untreated roadways and sidewalks. When temperatures are below freezing... motorists need to be especially careful on bridges and overpasses where slippery spots can easily develop.
