Cambridge... eastern Norfolk County in eastern Massachusetts... this includes the cities of... Weymouth... Quincy... Brookline... Suffolk County in eastern Massachusetts... this includes the city of Boston... Bristol County in southeast Massachusetts... this includes the cities of... Taunton... New Bedford... Fall River... Plymouth County in southeast Massachusetts... this includes the cities of... Plymouth... Brockton... extreme southeastern Hillsborough County in southern New Hampshire...

* at 1213 PM EDT radar indicated a line of thunderstorms extending from Lawrence... to Needham... through Taunton and Fall River. This line was tracking to the east at 20 mph. As the thunderstorms cross through eastern Massachusetts... expect rainfall rates of one quarter of an inch to one inch per hour. This will be sufficient rainfall to produce ponding of water in low lying and poor drainage areas.
The storms are expected to reach Boston by 1230... Beverly and Ipswich by 1 PM... Plymouth and Marshfield by 120 PM.
A Flood Watch remains in effect through this evening.
Heavy rain will cause ponding of water on highways... roads and underpasses as well as other poor drainage areas. Rises will occur on creeks and small streams and may result in minor flooding of low lying areas along their banks.

* at 856 am EDT radar indicated a large swath of showers with some embedded thunderstorms... tracking to the northeast at about 30 miles per hour. These will cross through central Massachusetts... northeast Connecticut... and Rhode Island during late this morning through early this afternoon. Rainfall rates of a half inch to one inch per hour are expected at times. This will produce ponding of water in low lying and poor drainage areas.

* Through late tonight
* a cold front moving very slowly towards the watch area will produce numerous showers and thunderstorms through this evening. Some of these thunderstorms will produce torrential rains of 1 to 3 inches per hour.
* Widespread rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches are expected... bringing the potential for flooding. Isolated totals up to 5 inches are possible. Given the potential for torrential downpours... the threat for flash flooding exists as well... especially in urban areas.
