Winter Weather Advisory As of 1:02 am EST on January 7, 2009
... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 9 am EST this morning...
A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 9 am EST this morning.
This Winter Weather Advisory is for most of southeast Massachusetts... as well as central and southern Rhode Island... except for Block Island.
Freezing rain will continue for several hours this morning... before transitioning to plain rain shortly after daybreak.
Ice accretions of a 1 to 2 tenths of an inch are possible. This will result in travel difficulties later this morning. Untreated surfaces will be slippery for the Wednesday morning commute... so please plan accordingly. Enough warm air should arrive by mid morning to transition all precipitation to plain rain.
A Winter Weather Advisory is issued when ice is forecast to develop in the affected areas... but accumulations are expected to be light. Any ice would make driving and walking difficult... but not impossible... on untreated roadways and sidewalks. When temperatures are below freezing... motorists need to be especially careful on bridges and overpasses where slippery spots can easily develop.
