... Wind Advisory remains in effect from 2 PM PDT this afternoon until
11 PM PDT /11 PM MST/ this evening...

A Wind Advisory remains in effect from 2 PM PDT this afternoon until
11 PM PDT /11 PM MST/ this evening for portions of southeast
California... southern Nevada and northwest Arizona.

* Winds: southwest winds between 20 and 30 mph with gusts between
40 and 50 mph.

* Timing: winds will increase by early this afternoon with the
strongest winds expected late this afternoon and evening
before decreasing overnight.

* Locations: include but are not limited to Lake Havasu...
Kingman... Mohave Valley... shosone... Needles... Pioche...
Pahrump... desert rock... Las Vegas... mountains edge...
Searchlight.

* Impacts: strong Crosswinds may make driving difficult at
times... while blowing sand and dust may rapidly lower
visibilities to less than a mile.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that Crosswinds are expected to be strong
enough to make driving difficult... especially for high profile
vehicles. In addition... strong winds over desert areas could result
in briefly lowered visibilities to well under a mile at times in
blowing dust or blowing sand. Use extra caution.

this evening for strong winds and low relative humidity for fire
weather zones 102... 226... 460... 461... 462... 463... 464 and 465...

* affected area... in Arizona... fire weather zone 102 northwest
deserts/northwest plateau. In California... fire weather zone
226 Owens Valley/southern Inyo Forest. In Nevada... fire
weather zone 460 Esmeralda and Nye County deserts/cnc
dispatch... fire weather zone 461 Lincoln County/Ely dispatch...
fire weather zone 462 Nye County deserts/Las Vegas dispatch...
fire weather zone 463 Sheep Range... fire weather zone 464
Spring Mountains and fire weather zone 465 Clark and SW
Lincoln County deserts/Las Vegas dispatch.

* Timing... gusty winds are expected to through the evening before
decreasing after midnight.

* Wind... along the east slopes of fire zone caz226... west 20 to
30 mph with gusts to 50 mph. Local gusts below canyons along
the lower slopes could reach 70 mph at times. In southern
Nevada and northwest Arizona... southwest winds 20 to 30 mph
with gusts between 40 and 50 mph. Possible gusts to near 70
mph along the east side of the mountains of Nevada zones 463
and 464.

* Humidity... single digits through early evening then slowly
increasing above 15 percent after midnight.

* Thunderstorms... isolated storms possible over northern Lincoln
County through the evening.

* Impacts... the combination of gusty winds... low relative
humidity and dry fuels will create conditions that are
favorable for extreme fire behavior.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring or are imminent. A combination of strong
winds... low relative humidity... and warm temperatures will create
extreme fire growth potential.

The high temperature was 102 degrees at the Barstow-Daggett CA
Airport yesterday... may 16th... which tied the record high maximum
for the date set in 2009.
